Safety Tips

Version 2026-07-24 · Last updated 24 July 2026

Ember Connect brings strangers together, and that always deserves care. Please read this page before your first call — and remember: we do not run criminal-background checks on users. Earner verification confirms only that a profile belongs to a real person; it says nothing about anyone's intentions.

1. Protect your money

  • Never send money to another user — not for an emergency, not for travel, not for a “refundable deposit”, not for any reason. Genuine users will never ask.
  • Never share your bank details, card numbers, UPI PIN, or OTPs on a call. Ember staff will never ask for your OTP or password.
  • Keep all payments inside the app. If someone asks you to pay them directly (UPI, wallet, bank transfer) or to continue on another app for payment, that is against our rules — report them.
  • Be wary of romance scams: a person who quickly declares strong feelings and then raises money problems is following a script. End the call and report.

2. Protect your personal information

  • Don't share your phone number, home or work address, daily routine, or financial situation with someone you just met.
  • Your phone number is never shown to other users by us — if you share it yourself, you can't take it back.
  • Anything visible on your video call (documents, screens, house number, uniforms) reveals information. Check your background.
  • Recording or sharing another user's call or images without consent is banned and may be a criminal offence. If someone records or threatens to share your images, save the evidence, block, report to us, and report at cybercrime.gov.in.

3. On the call

  • You can end any call at any time. You never owe anyone a reason.
  • No one may ask you for sexual content or behaviour on a call — paid minutes do not buy consent to anything. Decline and report.
  • Block and report any user who makes you uncomfortable — from their profile or the call screen. Blocking is immediate and they are not notified.

4. If you plan to meet in person

Meetings arranged between users happen outside the Platform and entirely at your own risk — we do not facilitate or vet them. If you do choose to meet: tell a friend or family member where you are going and with whom, share your live location, meet in a busy public place in daytime, arrange your own transport both ways, and stay sober. Leave immediately if anything feels off — trust your instincts over politeness. Never agree to a paid meeting: offering or seeking paid in-person meetings is banned on Ember.

5. Emergency and official helplines (India)

  • 112 — national emergency number (police, fire, ambulance)
  • 1930 — national cyber-crime helpline (financial fraud), and cybercrime.gov.in for online complaints
  • 181 — women's helpline
  • 14416 / 1800-891-4416 — Tele-MANAS mental-health support

If you are in immediate danger, contact the police first. Then report the user to us — in-app or via our Grievance Officer — so we can act on the account, and we will cooperate with law enforcement as required.
